Luke Beesley, Lemon Shark ISBN: 0-9579411-1-0 This powerful first collection from one of Australia's major emerging poets explores the grace and sensuality of language, with particular attention to Queensland sunlight, surfaces, and an intimate place within conversations. Many of the poems refer to a relationship between books and reading, films, and visual art. In Beesley's own words, "Essentially, too, Lemon Shark is about love, and an idiosyncratic sort of silliness or absurdity." Certain to be recognised as an Australian poetry classic in years to come.

Bruce Dawe has just released a new and highly topical sequence 'Towards the War', now available from Picaro Press.  In the 1960's, Dawe's poetry helped to define that delicate balance point between strong anti-war sentiment and recognition of our collective obligation to defend the weak against tyranny and brutality.  Three decades on, his opinions are still fresh, timely, and troublingly ethical.
There are no easy answers.  A portion of the proceeds from sale of this chapbook will be donated to The Australian Red Cross Iraq and Region Humanitarian Appeal.  Readers wishing to contribute to this fund directly are urged to do so through their local Red Cross office.  The
cost is $5, available from Picaro Press, PO Box 853, Warners Bay, NSW, 2282 Australia.  Payment in stamps is acceptable.

B.R. Dionysius, Universal Andalusia  ISBN: 0-9579411-2-9
The third published book of Brisbane-based poet, editor and arts
administrator B.R. Dionysius, Universal Andalusia is a verse novel
that traces the backpacking holiday through southern Europe and India
by two Australian thirtysomethings, Baldwin (one part Alexander the
Great, one part Barry McKenzie) and his 'energetic' wife, Roxanne.
Their picaresque travels are an amalgamation of history, nationalistic
clichés, cultural (including pop-cultural) imperialism (and
heresy!), 'otherness', and shallow backpacker tourism in the pre-9/11
world. According to Dionysius, "Readers can expect a fast-paced action
thriller with a bit of sex thrown in for titillation."

Billy Jones, Wren Lines: Selected Poems and Drawings Volume
ISBN: 0-9579411-3-7
Drawing from Jones' seven published works spanning 1975 to 1993,
Wren Lines is the remarkable record of a creative life spent simply,
and deeply. With more than 200 pages of poems and 25 elegant
illustrations, Wren Lines details, in the words of the poet, "How it
all transpired - the highs and lows, the day to day adventure of the
miracle of being alive on planet earth, past-present-future-eternity."
Spanning from the early riverbank journal poems started following the
car crash death of his girlfriend Diane Kelly in 1975, to Jones' 1993
collection, Jet Lag, Wren Lines is a masterful and often mystical
celebration of the unnoticed and neglected objects and people
surrounding us. Published by soi 3 modern poets, an imprint of papertiger media
inc. Available from www.papertigermedia.com

The Barrier Range by Ray Liversidge. Author and journalist Alan Atwood has said of the book: "In The Barrier Range, Ray Liversidge approaches this landmark from a fresh and imaginative direction, creating a parallel universe in which the stories of Burke, Wills and other early explorers co-exist with MP3 players, television and the Number 19 tram. Like the expeditions it echoes, this is daring and epic in scale". The book can be purchased from Collected Works Bookshop or other bookshops in Melbourne.
